With the main women's pro golf tours — the LPGA, LET and Symetra tours — either just about to get started or still weeks away from starting, some of the pros are tuning up on mini-tours. That includes Cheyenne Woods. And Cheyenne tuned up in the best way, recording a win on the Cactus Tour in Arizona.
Playing in the Cactus Tour's Event No. 2 of 2021, at Sun City Golf Club, Woods carded three rounds in the 60s for a huge 16-stroke victory. Cheyenne's scores were 67, 65 and 68, and in all three cases those were the lowest scores of their respective rounds. She finished at 16-under 200. Woods made only three bogeys over 54 holes, none in her second-round 65.
For Woods, it is her third career win in a pro tournament. She won on a different mini-tour in 2012. Her biggest win to date remains the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters in Australia, a tournament on the Ladies European Tour.
What tour is Cheyenne playing in 2021? She has LPGA status by virtue of finishing between Nos. 126 and 150 on the LPGA money list, and that should get her into a handful of LPGA events. Woods can also seek out sponsor exemptions into LPGA tournaments. So we will see her on the LPGA Tour in 2021. We might also see her make an appearance on the Ladies European Tour and Symetra Tour.
